What to include

If something went wrong, the record identifier is the fastest thing you can send us. It looks like PM-WSVR-45R4-KX3M and appears on every review and on every entry in Records. With it we can find exactly what ran, what it decided and why, without asking you to send us your documents.

Common questions

A review is taking a long time. Reviews run on a queue and a long document with many claims can take several minutes. You can close the app and come back. On iPhone, turn on notifications under Account and the phone will tell you when the gate holds or clears.

A claim was flagged and I think it is right. That is the intended workflow, not a failure. Every flagged claim shows the passage it was judged against. Read the passage, and if the claim stands, sign it off with your reason. The reason is what goes into the record.

The report says a provision is missing and it is not. Completeness is measured against the documents you selected for that review. If the provision lives in a document that was not selected, or in a version that was superseded, it will read as missing. Check the document list on the review first.

I uploaded a newer version of a document. When PortMem thinks a new upload amends one you already have, it asks you to confirm rather than guessing. Confirm it in Documents and later reviews will treat the older document as superseded.

I need to delete my account. In the iPhone app, open Account and choose Delete account. On the web, the same control is in the account menu (the account button at the foot of the side rail): Delete my account and data. Both delete your documents, your API keys and your usage history. The signed audit records of past reviews are kept, because a tamper-evident record that can be erased later is not evidence. The deletion screen tells you exactly what happens before you confirm.

Notifications are not arriving. Check that notifications are allowed for PortMem in the iOS Settings app, then turn the switch in Account off and on again to register the device afresh.

Reporting a security issue

Write to info@portmem.com with the word security in the subject line. Please tell us what you found and how to reproduce it, and give us a reasonable window to fix it before publishing. We will tell you what we did about it.
